Application: 1982-1992 GM F-Body: Camaro & Firebird with Spohn Tubular K-Member

Fitment Note: This Pinto manual rack and pinion steering kit for the 1982-1992 F-Body Camaro and Firebird is for customers who have an existing Spohn Performance tubular k-member that does not have our Pinto manual rack mounts welded to the k-member. This kit includes the weld on mounts that you will have to weld on to the front of your k-member. Also note if you have the front k-member brace mounts that the steering shaft will not clear the driver's side front brace mount.

Replace the factory's very heavy power steering pump, lines, etc. and really open up your engine bay and shed some serious weight off the front of your car. Our brand new (not remanufactured) Pinto manual rack has an aggressive gearbox (3.75 turns lock to lock) and will take less effort to turn compared to a factory power steering box with the power assist disconnected or an S-10 manual steering box.

Our Pinto manual rack features over-sized rod ends for the input shaft and a chromed center tube for a trick appearance. Unlike many other Pinto manual rack kits on the market, our tie rod end to spindle bump-steer adapters do not require you to drill out your spindle hole. Our tie rod end to spindle adapters are CNC machined from 4140 chrome moly and are machined to be a direct bolt on to the GM spindle taper. In addition, they are also on the car bump-steer adjustable.

The tie rod to spindle adapters are fully threaded with double locking jam nuts for easy up-down adjustment that eliminates the need for spacers. Our tie rod end set-up features 5/8" chrome moly Teflon lined rod ends with 5/8" chrome moly safety washers top and bottom for adequate articulation and safety. We use silver zinc plated 4140 chrome moly hex tie rod adjusters for the ultimate in strength and durability. We also include our CNC machined 6061 aluminum rack clamp as well as all required mounting hardware.

Our Pinto manual rack kit includes the complete steering shaft assembly. Our steering shaft features Flaming River chrome moly low profile needle bearing u-joints that have a reduced diameter for more clearance and reduced weight and they do not require lubrication. Combined with a 3/4" D-D steering shaft, our steering shaft assembly provides for a substantial weight decrease over the stock steering shaft and much more header/turbo clearance.
